The Story Behind Integrity Toys' Fashion Royalty Line

Integrity Toys is one of the companies in the market today that produces a wide selection of fashionable dolls. The collections available are reminiscent of haute couture, golden age Hollywood glamor, and other modern-age high fashion themes. The dolls are mostly ball joined and each has their own exquisite array of wardrobes. Integrity Toys had then rented Jason Wu as a freelance doll clothing designer when he was still sixteen. Jason Wu later created the Integrity Toy's doll collection called Fashion Royalty and he was later named as the creative director of Integrity Toys a year after.

The story line behind the Fashion Royalty line revolves around the competition between two huge cosmetic companies who are fighting over market shares in the European market and ultimately global dominance. Their world had then become ever more challenging with the entrance of a third huge company ready to complicate the competition. Thus, collectors of the Fashion Royalty will be introduced to the companies "W" (owned by Veronique Perrin), "V" (formed by Baroness Agnes Von Weiss), and Missima Cosmetics (headed by Natalie Fatale).

For doll collectors who are interested in fashion and creative designing, the characters of Fashion Royalty will provide you inspiration. Famous characters of this line are Veronique Perrin, Vanessa Perrin, Adele Makeda, Isha, Luchia Z., Baroness Agnes Von Weiss, Kyori Sato, Natalia Fatale, Eugenia Perrin Frost, Darius Reid, Pierre DeVries, and Francisco Leon. The Fashion Collection of Jason Wu was first unveiled at the International Toy Fair in February 2001 in New York City. Every year there is an exciting new look for almost every character with new wardrobes in line. An accessory that should be part of every collector's line-up is the story card portfolio which only had 1000 of these produced.

In 2009, the Future Perfect Collection was introduced with a new exciting feature. The dolls' bodies came with a "handspeak system" wherein the hands can be removed to make wardrobe change easier. They also came with additional hands that are posed to hold with accessories. In 2010, Integrity Toys launched the Foundation Dazzle Collection which showcased haute couture and the fashion of the swinging 60s for W Cosmetics' new fashion ad campaign. The sophisticated look of this collection reminds the collectors of the original inspiration for these dolls which is the Gene Marshall.

Collectors of Jason Wu's Fashion Royalty dolls will never stop to get excited as new lines and repaints are introduced each year. Every year, there is also a set of limited edition dolls of 180 figures to at most a thousand digits produced for a single character or design. Thus, collectors of the series will certainly appreciate the exclusiveness and rarity of some doll models after a decade or so.

Made in China – Designer Handbag Fashion Totally Misunderstood

Wow! What's all this garble about "everything" made in China being counterfeit or fake? Do people understand the design and manufacturing process? Or, are they just determined to squabble about one of the manufacturing industry's greatest resources?

True, there's been a lot of media about children's toys being manufactured poorly. Shame on China for the mess they've created. They'll fix the problem, or they'll lose business. We all learn from our mistakes, right? Or, at least the smart folks learn. And, let's face it, China is no dummy!

China has been manufacturing most of the clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories stocked in all the major department stores through the world for many, many years. And, this is not going to fade or go away. China offers low-cost labor for low-end to high-end designer handbags, clothing and just about anything around the house.

Most people do not understand the truth about the Made in China label. China has been producing most of the Designer Merchandise sold in the USA for very long time. Why? Because the price to manufacture in China keeps prices as low as possible for consumers. People complain about the high price tags on designer handbags, clothing, shoes, and accessories. If the same item made in China was made in the USA or Europe the prices would be doubled or tripled.

If the Hermes Birkin bag was assembled by hand in China instead of France, the price would not be $ 7,000.00 each. If Italian leather was sent to China for the assembly of Prada handbags, the prices would not be $ 3,000.00 each. Please put things into perspective.

Burberry's new management decided to use China for some of its assembled manufacturing needs and people went crazy. The thought of using a designer handbag made in China is misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misguided. The product made in China consists of the same quality of fabric as if it was made in the USA, France, England or Italy. The only difference is the designer item was assembled in China, or any other country offering a cheaper assembly manufacturing process.

Most of the high-end Designers buy fabrics, leathers, and materials from the USA or Europe, pay a premium price for the high-quality fabrication, and then negotiate in China. The materials and specifications are sent to China and made. Representatives from each of the Design Houses travel to China or other manufacturing countries to supervise the process. The finished products are shipped to the USA and other parts of the world for sale. It's a process kept sweet and as simple as possible. It creates jobs and produces a global economy.

Most consumers do not know the designer manufacturing process or understand the details. They see a Made in China label and assume it's a counterfeit item or fake. In reality, it's not. It's a moderately priced item made in a country which has been stereo-typed. And, we can not blame the consumer because most of the junk, counterfeit and fake merchandise bearing the trademarks of others are made in China. Hopefully, the USA Customs Department working closely with the fashion industry will help end importing counterfeit goods.

There are many countries available the fashion designers use to outsource labor. The high-end leather designer handbags with high-ticket price tags are made in the USA, Italy, London and France. The lower cost designer products are made elsewhere. Most designers offer collections every season which provide both high-end and lower priced products. For example, Ralph Lauren has five price and fabrication determined collections: RL Classics, Collection, Black Label, Blue Label and Lauren. Plus, many of the designers produce a separate collection for outlet stores and discount stores like Marshalls, TJ Max, Target, Walmart, etc.

Some of the countries are more commonly used than others, and nonetheless they are countries with capacities and low-cost labor. Some of these countries include, and are not limited to China, Turkey, Mexico, Romania, India and Portugal.

Fashion designers who make designer handbags, designer wallets, designer scarves, designer clothing, hats, shoes, etc. Use these countries because they can sell their products at affordable prices. Some of the fashion designers include, and are not limited to Coach, Burberry, Liz Claiborne, Robert Rodriquez, Max Studio, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Dooney & Bourke, Juicy Couture, Donna Karan, Anne Klein, Brighton, and many, many others.

Just because an item is made in China, it does not measure fake or counterfeit. Let's get this straight and communicated clearly. The reason the item was made in China is because at that point in time, the designer's manufacturing team decided it was the best business decision to make for a cost-effective distribution of its product and collection.

The next time you see a Made in China label on a designer handbag or accessory, and you purchased it from a reputable source, thank you lucky stars for the bargain price you paid. If you have any doubt, take the item to the designer's boutique for authentication and peace of mind. Do not assume just because it's made in China it's a fake. You know what assuming does, right?

8. All Vuittons are handmade. This is actually a company policy, so that they can control the number of bags that get into the market. In fact, did you know that you can only buy one bag of one type of Vuitton per client? That tells you about quality as well as the designer’s interest in making sure that his clients only get the best.

You may be wondering about Vuitton replicas by now. They are easy to spot. Vuitton bags have a unique smell because of the type of leather that is used. If you’re not a leather smelling expert, check the lining. It’s a mixture of canvas and cloth and the fabric grain is visible. Fashion for Different Seasons

As the seasons change it is essential to adapt your style accordingly, while remaining fashionable and fabulous. Below are some top tips for the oncoming months:

Autumn / Winter 2010

The weather may be dull and dreary outside, but this does not mean your style has to suffer. There are plenty of gorgeous ladies winter styles out there to keep the blues at bay, and leave you feeling wonderful this season. Winter 2010 fashion is very much focused on the military and aviator look. I could not emphasize enough how trendy aviator jackets are going to be over the season, especially those in darker colors, such as military green. Another color to look out for this season is camel, with a tailored camel suit being right on trend. Cropped shorts are still in fashion this fall, with the look being topped off nicely with knee high socks, or brightly colored tights. Woolen jumpers are a wardrobe must-have, and cropped jumpers can give your look a sexy overhaul. Shirts buttoned up to the neckline are a great look this season, as is anything lacy. Thigh high boots have been seen in almost every designers collection this season, so are definitely the essential footwear to be wearing over the autumn / winter months. There are plenty of options for footwear for this season, including biker boots and we also see clogs make a welcome return.

Spring / Summer 2011

The sun is shining and it's the season to look out those sexy dresses. Femininity is essential for the summer; Maxi dresses, floral prints and light fabrics all help to create a wonderful, crisp look for the season. Maxi dresses will be available in many more fabrics, including sheer and lacy, over the summer months. If you want to be on top of the trends this summer, then make sure you have plenty of white clothing in your wardrobe, as this is a must-have for 2011. If you think lingerie is for wearing underneath your clothing, then think again , As this season we will see lots of sexy lingerie looking outwear. The trend for lace also follows on from the winter women's fashion trends, and becomes hot during this season too. It's time to ditch those blacks and greys, as bright, bright and … well, more bright is the general rule for colors over the summer months. Almost every foreseeable color is fashionable, so do not be afraid to be adventurous with your wardrobe this season. Shoes with huge heels (the big, the better) will still be in fashionable over the spring / summer months, and wedged heels will also be bang on trend this season. Shoes with bows are also a good investment, as bows are an essential design over the coming months. Clogs, however, will become the essential footwear item for this season. Following from autumn and winter, clogs over the summer will come in a variety of funky styles and designs.

5 Top Taper Fade Haircuts For Men

Fade cut can be defined as a hairstyle that features the gradual transition from short to longer hair. There are so many variations of fade haircuts, but the idea remains the same across all the variations. The hairstyles are great for casual and formal looks, and you can experiment as much as you want as long as you have a skilled barber you can trust. Even though taper fade cuts have been around for years, they have gained popularity in modern times but there are some that seem to be more popular than others.

1. Caesar taper fade – It is among the best for African Americans mainly because of their skin complexion and dark hair color. The sides have short haircuts and longer haircuts featured on the top. The top haircuts have larger lengths usually swept to the front side and not the side as many other fades do. The fade allows for short borders and bangs to be combed sideways.

2. Mohawk taper fade – The Mohawk is still trending and you can stand out in a taper fade Mohawk. For this fade, the hair on the top head part is longer compared to that on the back of the head making it possible for you to lift them in faux hawk style. The length increases from the top to bottom. You can easily style this fade at home using pomade.

3. Afro taper fade – It is most suitable for men who have curly or kinky hair and the curls are styled from top with the hair length decreasing from the top part running downwards till they vanish. It is a very popular fade style especially for black men.

4. Temple fade – This style suits any color and skin tone, but it needs to be done by a skilled hairdresser or barber. It is more like a low fade, but the difference comes in because the transition between hair lengths in this style is more abrupt, clear and evidently visible.

5. High taper fade – It fades with skin at around 2 inches or even lower than the hair top. It is a style that can be rocked by anyone but it looks to work best for men with black hair. You can easily hold the hair tight using pomade and it also works in keeping the hair shiny. There is also the low taper fade which disappears an inch above the natural hairline. For the low taper fade, it would be a good idea to use hair gel when styling for the best results.

6. Bald taper fade – It is a great style for men who are almost bald because it offers a stylish look. It is very similar to military buzz but it is different because it fades from nothing around the sides to the top of the head where the fade is largest. Its appearance works for bald men because it makes the baldness less visible.

7. Comb over fade – The bottom hair is trimmed regularly in this style, where the top hair is left to grow in length. The bottom hair remains below the top hair level. You can comb the top in a slick back.

Extreme Bikini – Different Than a Micro Bikini

Have you heard about the extreme bikini? You'll find that this bikini is different than a micro bikini. It is a minimal look that is daring and provocative. What's the difference between the extreme style and the micro bikini? Well, if you can believe it, you'll actually find that the micro bikini covers a bit more than an extreme one. This style of bikini is meant to be shocking. Although you could probably actually go swimming in a micro bikini, you probably will not be able to when you don an extreme design.

There are many different styles of extreme bikinis out there to consider. There are so many different details that can make these bikinis just a bit different. When you are ready to purchase one of your own, there are several different styles of bottoms that you can choose from. First, you have the arouser, which has a special heart pendant in gold that keeps your privates from being seen. Another option for the bottom is known as the c-string. This has three little strips that have a little space between them so you can let a bit of flesh shine through. Then, you have the dare bottom, which covers a bit more with black lace.

You'll also find that there are different types of tops available when you try to find an extreme bikini. If you are considering one of these bathing swimsuits, you need to realize that these tops really offer very little coverage, if any at all. Many of them just have string on top, which means you are showing off everything on top. More than likely, you'll have to be at a private party or at a nude beach to be able to wear these swimsuits.

So, if you thought the micro bikini was a sexy swimsuit, you may like the extreme styles even more. They allow you to go a bit further, showing off your body with confidence.

Understanding Shona Culture of The Shona Tribe of Zimbabwe

The Shona people are mainly concentrated in the country of Southern Africa called Zimbabwe, but there are known pockets of these people in Mozambique, as well other parts of South Africa, especially the northern part of South Africa.

Before you understand the mindset associated with the Shona people, one has to understand their customs, their superstitions and everything that is connected with their way of life. Although their lives in the towns / cities may have drastically changed from the time when Great Zimbabwe was a thriving city and in most instances certain puberty ceremonies are no longer carried out, their belief in spirit medium is just as strong as ever and in the tribal Areas and especially amongst the elders the tribal customs of the tribesman have altered very little. In today's Zimbabwe the payment of lobola, and payment of what is known as damages {defiling a girl} is now in the form of cash payment, where typically it used to in the form of cattle, goats or hoes but on the whole the actual Customs have not changed much at.

From the beginning of the formation of the Shona tribe, agriculture has been the principal mode of subsidi. Maize and millet have always been the staple crops but a fair amount of sorghum, monkey nuts, beans, rice and some indigenous vegetables are also grown. There are a number of methods used for tilling the land. The traditional methods of cultivation basically involved the breaking up and scratching of the soil, there after the spreading seed over an intensive acreage. The Shona agricultural lifestyle involved having a significant number of cattle as well as smaller livestock.

Shona culture is is strongly intertwined with the way the village was structured. In terms of the village set up, a Shona village (or musha as the Shona call it) is controlled by a hereditary headman, who is the head of the principal family unit which originally founded the village. The Shona people are a patriarchal society in general. To become a member of the village, one can only have done that through kinship. A member who has been absent from the village for a reasonable time does not lose his membership by default unless there is evidence beyond doubt that he will not return. Understanding this concepts builds a framework that helps in understanding Shona culture.

Fifties Shapewear – Instant Sex Appeal

Retro styling – you must have seen that term before! It is applied to everything from clothing to home furnishings. Retro comes from the Latin meaning ‘backwards’. Here we are discussing retro shapewear.

Although most of the comments that follow describe the sleek chic girdles from the fifties and sixties, they can equally apply to today’s girdles that are based on the original designs.

The war years were years of austerity and women on both sides of the channel dressed for comfort, to help the war effort. At the end of the war women wanted to attract their men and fashions reflected this desire. This culminated in Christian Dior fashion, which required a sleek, chic silhouette that only a corselet, corset or girdle could provide. Suddenly all women wore girdles, and not just women either – all the shapewear manufacturers targeted not just women but teens as well. All kinds of ‘girdles for young teens’ were marketed. Probably the teen girdle that gained the maximum coverage, in more than one sense, was the panty girdle – a tight-fitting cross between a girdle that held the tummy in and one that protected the wearer from advances, whether unwelcome of otherwise!

The girdle had several functions – to give that sleek chic silhouette to the wearer and to hold up the nylon stockings. Girdles generally had a minimum of two pairs of garter clips. There are two at the front and two garter clips, usually slightly offset from the rear. The garters are offset so that when the girdle wearer sits down they do not have to sit directly on the clips! The open bottom girdles usually have the garter clips on elastic straps, which is useful in keeping the nylon stockings taught as the wearer moves about, sitting and standing. The nylon stockings from the fifties did not have spandex or lycra and were non-stretch; without the elastic of the garter strap the stocking would ‘bag’ as the wearer stood up.

The panty girdle, and particularly the long-leg panty girdle often has the garter tab attached directly to the girdle itself. The leg part of the long-leg panty girdle usually completely covers the welt of the stocking, losing the gap of bare thigh above the stocking top. Men usually find the flash of bare thigh and garter strap exciting; however, a long leg panty girdle, although practical, hides all this and has consequently been described (along with pantyhose) as a “passion killer”.

Girdle materials Modern and retro girdles usually feature spandex or Lycra for elasticity, but the original girdles dating from around the 1930s usually used rubber to give stretch. The introduction of rubber was a major step in corsetry – the ultra-rigid corset had suddenly become more flexible. In parallel with its introduction the terms associated with such items of clothing also metamorphosed: from the original corset, the term roll-on came into vogue, particularly in the USA, then came the step-in and the corselette, often known as the ‘all in one’.

Indeed for a while Playtex marketed a girdle molded from pure latex – these have become quite the collectors item these days, partly because of rarity value. Pure latex deteriorates over time and the garment then perishes, so few remain in good condition. It is interesting to know whether the common latex allergy affected wearers, but whatever the reason, these girdles are no longer manufactured by Playtex.

Retro shapewear share the same objective as vintage shapewear did, namely to sculpt the shape of the body. Elasticity can help to hold and control figures but for more rigid control a variety of ‘bones’ have been used over the years. The original whalebone corset did actually use whale baleen – which are the cartilage-like “teeth” which whales use to filter plankton. Each baleen is enormous, around ten inches wide and ten to twelve feet long. It proved an ideal material for corset makers because it consisted of parallel fibres that could be relatively easily split into thin strips; these strips could be shaped by heating them over steam and when they cooled they held their shape. As whales decreased supply became critical. Fortunately other alternatives proved suitable – manmade plastics like celluloid, and even flattened steel springs!

Historic background to the corset The forerunner of the girdle was the corset, and that had its origins further back still in ladies stays. Indeed there is archaelogical evidence going back to 3000BC showing women with waists cinched in tightly by a garment that appears ribbed. It was around the fourteenth century that women started wearing a stiffened linen undergarment garment, laced in at the front or back, and by the fifteenth century these ‘stays’ were relatively common; the probable derivation of the English corset from bodice (‘bodies’) to the French translation of this ‘corps’ which transmuted back to corset. The original corsets were made by stitching together two layers of linen with a paste in the middle of the ‘sandwich’ to provide stiffening. By the 16th century corset makers had turned to using whalebone (actually more correctly called baleen) to offer the stiffening. This provided more rigidity than the earlier paste corsets.

The corset gave way to the girdle by 1940, on both sides of the Atlantic, teamed with a bra.

After the fifties came the swinging sixties, when women were exhorted to burn their bras and stop wearing such restrictive underwear. But as with all fashion, girdle wearing has now gone full circle. Burlesque artists have made the ‘art of tease’ in which girdles, basques and corsets are on show, into popular entertainment. Wonderbra have enticed the burlesque star Dita von Teese to design, model and market a range of retro girdles and bras based on fifties designs.

The burlesque art form is now burgeoning and the esteemed Royal Festival Hall held the worlds largest burlesque lesson in January 2009, evidencing how mainstream this art has become. Original fifties girdles, corsets and basques are found in specialist online lingerie boutiques or vintage stores, but to satisfy the demand all sorts of outlets have now sprung up to satisfy the demands of burlesque. These shops and online stores invariably turn to the forties and fifties for styling inspiration for their retro shapewear – and the biggest item that seems to be in demand is the corset. Fashion really has returned to its roots.
